The Mandalorian has gone from strength to strength since it made its debut on Disney Plus, and now the streaming service has renewed the series for a second season. Showrunner Jon Favreau recently took to Twitter to make the announcement, revealing that fans could expect the new episodes to drop in fall 2020.
Favreau also hinted that the Gamorrean would possibly be making a return in the series by attaching a photo of the green, pig-like specimens to his tweet. The creatures were originally seen in Return of the Jedi.
The Mandalorian went live along with Disney Plus itself on November 12, with the show quickly proving to be the main draw to the platform. It gained higher demand in the US than some of the biggest streaming originals seen for that year, such as The Umbrella Academy, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, When They See Us and Good Omens.
Fans took a particular shine to Baby Yoda, the small alien who quickly stole the show and spawned a new generation of internet memes. This led to Disney Plus adding him to the gallery of available profile icons people could use as their avatar on the platform.
The Mandalorian is available to stream now on Disney Plus, which is currently released in select territories – the US, Australia, New Zealand and Puerto Rico. New subscribers are eligible for a free seven day trial.
