WarnerMedia Day has led to the announcement that Greg Berlanti is developing a Green Lantern inspired project for HBO Max.
The producer is creating an adaptation of the Strange Adventures sci-fi anthology from DC Comics for the new streaming service, which is being launched in May 2020.
Berlanti has described the new creation as ‘unlike anything seen on television’, going on to say that his adaptation of Strange Adventures is ‘an anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist.’
The series will feature characters across the DC world, looking at ‘close-ended morality tales about the intersecting lives of mortals and superhumans’. It follows the journey of Adam Strange, an archaeologist who becomes an intergalactic hero after being zeta-beamed to planet Rann.
Berlanti’s production partner is Sarah Schechter, who is also set to be an executive producer. John Stephens will be the showrunner and writer. Overall the series will come from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.
