The Internet is regularly coming up with a new conspiracy theory or rumour, and the latest image doing the rounds is one of President Donald Trump lying in a coffin, eyes closed. Fear not, though, if you’re a Trump fan – the President isn’t actually dead. At least, not that we’re aware of.

A cartoon image of Trump – seemingly from an episode of The Simpsons – has been circulating on Twitter, with social media users claiming that the iconic Fox animated series predicted the future yet again. To be precise, they are referring to the fact that both the President and First Lady recently confirmed they have coronavirus.

Currently isolating in the White House, the President said on Twitter: ‘Tonight, FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this together!’ Their advisor Hope Hicks has also tested positive for the virus.

In the past, The Simpsons have predicted events such as the ebola outbreak and Trump’s presidency, so it makes sense that fans of the cartoon would believe the creators also predicted Trump’s death due to the virus. However, those waiting for the shock announcement that the President is dead can stop holding their breath.

The image of Trump in a coffin in The Simpsons has been doctored, so there’s no way that Simpsons fans can locate an episode which details how the US President passes away. Nor is it safe to assume that the President and First Lady will be passing away anytime soon. However, all of the other seasons of The Simpsons are currently available to stream on Disney Plus, and new episodes are airing each Sunday on Fox.
