It will soon become possible to stream classic titles such as La La Land and Dirty Dancing on YouTube for free, thanks to a move from Lionsgate.

The initiative they are launching is called Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies and involves the movies The Hunger Games, La La Land, John Wick and Dirty Dancing becoming available for free.

Those wanting to watch the titles will need to tune in on YouTube over the next few weeks each Friday – the first airing took place on April 17 at 6pm ET with The Hunger Games.

April 24 will see Dirty Dancing, La La Land is on May 1 and John Wick airs on May 8. Jamie Lee Curtis will host, with reports that she will share her own movie memories alongside celebrities and YouTube influencers.

The program is supported by Fandango, the National Association of Theatre Owners, AMC Theatres, Regal and Cinemark Theatres. Reports state that the program is focused on ‘honoring the communal experience of watching films in movie theaters and supporting the people who make those places great.’
