The Golden Globes saw several streaming services acknowledged for their original titles, but those who were thought to be heading for big wins missed out while the apparent underdogs took home big prizes.
Apple TV+ received three nominations for its most publicised title, The Morning Show, but unfortunately did not take home any trophies. Meanwhile, Netflix received five nominations with The Irishman, several for its series Unbelievable and six for Marriage Story.
However, they only took home two awards. One was for best supporting actress, with Laura Dern receiving the accolade for Marriage Story, while the other was won by Olivia Colman for best dramatic actress in The Crown.
Amazon Prime Video won two awards for its show Fleabag, which include best comedy series and best actress in a comedy series awarded to Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Also, Hulu won an award for Ramy. However, HBO received the most award wins, according to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
They landed four trophies in total. There were two awards for Succession: best television series – drama – and best performance by an actor in a television series – drama, awarded to Brian Cox. Chernobyl won best television limited series, while Stellan Skarsgard won best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a series.
