New footage of Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington has been released as the stars film for upcoming Hulu series Little Fires Everywhere. The first glimpse was revealed in a short teaser and date announcement, which revealed the series will make its debut on March 18 on the streaming platform.
The plot wasn’t focused on in the teaser – instead, we can see Elena Richardson (Reese’s character) putting on lipstick in a mirror to start with. Then Kerry’s character Mia Warren looks into a public bathroom mirror. Reese says ‘We all have parts that scare us. We can’t not look at who we are.’
In total the clip is only 15 seconds long. There are multiple shots of the two actresses with looks of concern on their faces, with the two women either standing outside a car looking surprised or taking a photo of a house from a vehicle. The teaser comes to a head when there is a zoomed-in shot of film being burnt – which has been arranged in the shape of a face.
Little Fires Everywhere was written by Liz Tigelaar and other stars in the show include Joshua Jackson, Rosemarie DeWitt and Jade Pettyjohn to name but a few. Both the series and novel are set in Shaker Heights, Ohio, taking place in the late 90s.
The series focuses on a number of secrets which are making their way around the close community. When a single mother and her daughter move into town, everything changes.
Reese recently defended being paid $2 million per episode on Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, saying: ‘There seemed to be a resentment, as if we weren’t worth it or it was bothersome, and I thought, why is that bothersome?
‘I guarantee these companies are real smart, and if they agree to pay us, they’re doing it for a reason. They probably had a lot of lawyers and a lot of business people decide on that number because they knew that they were going to make more than that back.’
