Those who have Roku streaming players or Roku TVs will be pleased to know there is more free content available for them now, in the form of IMDb TV. The service comes from Amazon and does not require a charge to view titles.
Those not in the know about IMDb TV may recall that it was originally called IMDb Freedive when it first launched back in January 2019. However, it was rebranded to its current name in June of that year.
The platform is targeted at those who benefit from the free service provided by The Roku Channel, which shows free movies and TV shows supported by ads. While IMDb was on offer via Amazon Fire TV devices by using the Prime Video app, it wasn’t on offer individually.
That has now changed, as those on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, iOS and Android can now access IMDb TV on their devices. All access is standalone, except for those with Apple TV – who will need to access the platform via the Prime Video app.
While some may not rate the quality of free, ad supported streaming services, these platforms do see the arrival of original content. For example, IMDb TV is working on a new courtroom show with Judge Judy.
