With Marvel’s Black Widow postponed until November 6th – and Disney Plus original The Falcon and The Winter Soldier delayed past its original summer release date – fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will have to wait a bit longer for the next instalment in the blockbuster superhero franchise after the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the entertainment industry.
But, there is some good news – new footage of the set of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has hit the internet.
Shang-Chi is set for release May 7th 2021, and filming is due to start again this month in Australia. Yesterday (August 2nd), an Australian news broadcast revealed new footage of the sets. In the clip, we can see what looks like a small village – with thatched roof buildings, a larger, central building that could be a temple, and green screens around the edge of the set.
The news report added ‘it’s understood that all cast and crew have now arrived from overseas and, after completing their required quarantine, shooting will begin in the coming days – 18 weeks later than originally planned’.
Filming was halted back in March due to the pandemic. The movie stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Fala Chen and Awkwafina – who is also part of the voice cast for upcoming Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon. Michelle Yeoh is also rumoured to be joining the cast.
There’s not yet a trailer for Shang-Chi, but you can watch the set footage on 7News Sydney’s Twitter account.
