Netflix is ploughing ahead with a full content slate next month, releasing 43 original programs and 59 new titles in total during November.

The company said that ‘a lot of Christmas titles’ would be added throughout the month, with the shows catering to both US and international audiences. Furthermore, there will be 72 shows and movies leaving the service during this time.

Some have commented that the onslaught of new content is a deliberate move to contend with the launch of two new streaming services in November – Apple TV+ on November 1, and Disney+ on November 12. Indeed, in the Q3 earnings report, Netflix acknowledged that the new influx of services could prove to be a threat to business.

Speaking out in a statement about the November lineup, Netflix said: ‘What’s coming to Netflix to counter their launches? You’ll be seeing a lot of Christmas titles added to Netflix throughout November as Netflix gears up for the holiday season.’

Netflix said on Monday that it had plans to raise a further $2 billion in debt in order to fund more original content creation.
