Netflix has plans to release a feature length documentary focused on Grammy winner Nipsey Hussle.
The project will be directed by Ava DuVernay and chronicle the story of Hussle, who was killed in March of last year in Los Angeles.
Hussle’s work includes the Bullets Ain’t Got No Name mixtapes series and his debut album Victory Lap, as well as his Marathon Clothing store.
The project is a collaboration between DuVernay’s film collective, ARRAY, and Hussle’s film company Marathon Films.
Hussle was honored at the Grammy Awards last month in a tribute at the Staples Center. Many viewed the star as someone just coming into his own with various successes.
The project has come about after Nipsey’s estate reached out directly to DuVernay after admiring her work on projects such as 13th and When They See Us.
