Brand new Hulu comedy Only Murders in the Building boasts a star studded cast. On Friday (August 7th), news broke that pop superstar Selena Gomez will appear alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short in the series.
The TV show will be a comedy focused on three true-crime-obsessed strangers, who find themselves embroiled in a crime for real. Hulu has revealed that Gomez, Martin and Short’s amateur investigators focus only on murders committed in their building – hence the title.
Head of Hulu originals Craig Erwich commented on the series: ‘It’s really special, surprisingly emotional. It’s really modern and self-referential about podcasts and murders, it’s got some great surprises. When they pull this off, it’s going to be really special’.
While this is Gomez’s first acting role on TV since Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, she has been busy behind the camera (along with a successful singing and film career) – she is executive producer of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and Living Undocumented, as well as HBO Max’s Selena + Chef TV show (which she also appears in). Gomez is one of the executive producers on Only Murders in the Building – Martin, Short, John Hoffman, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal will also executive produce.
Only Murders in the Building doesn’t yet have a release date. It is a 20th Century Fox Television production.
