Questions about what the cast of The Big Bang Theory have been up to since the show ended are being answered in rapid succession, as Kaley Cuoco is working on The Flight Attendant for HBO Max and now we have learned that Johnny Galecki is working on an esports sitcom for NBC.
Galecki is teaming up with Anthony Del Broccolo, who was a writer on The Big Bang Theory, to create the show. Titled The Squad, it centers on a group of friends who bond over esports competitions.
The group will experience highs and lows, finding both companionship and common ground while also making enemies of each other from time to time. What’s more, it will showcase what it’s like to find a like-minded group of people after years of feeling like the odd one out – similar to The Big Bang Theory.
While Del Broccolo will write the series, Galecki is taking on the role of executive producer. Del Broccolo has previously worked on Zoey 1010, Drake & Josh and All That, and has now received a script development deal from NBC.
The US network hasn’t given the scripts its approval yet, but The Hollywood Reporter states that Galecki is being considered to appear in the show.
Galecki has recently reprised his character on Roseanne spinoff The Connors, playing Darlene Connor’s on-off boyfriend David Healy. Previously, the Big Bang Theory star worked on the series Living Biblically, where a man lived life according to the Bible after a friend passed away.
