After the highly anticipated final series of hit Star Wars spin-off The Clone Wars finished on Disney Plus, fans were left wondering what was next for the prequel era of the galaxy far far away.
Last week, Disney Plus announced that they had ordered a new Lucasfilm animated series – Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The series will follow the Bad Batch, aka Clone Force 99. They are a specialised, elite unit of Clone troopers, genetically different to the rest of the Clone Army in a way that gives them each an individual super skill. We’ll see their adventures throughout the galaxy following the notorious and deadly Order 66. There’s even a chance we could see fan favourite characters like Ahsoka Tano and Obi Wan Kenobi again, though nothing is known for certain yet.
Dave Filoni, supervising director of The Clone Wars series, returns as an executive producer. Filoni also executive produces live action Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian, and directed two of the episodes.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian and the entire Star Wars saga (including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story) are streaming on Disney Plus now. Season 2 of The Mandalorian is set to arrive later this year, and an Obi Wan Kenobi TV show starring Ewan McGregor is currently in development.
If you want to watch hours of Star Wars content, you’ll need a Disney Plus account, as there is no longer a free trial.
