DC FanDome launches this Saturday (August 22nd) with 24 hours of virtual exclusives, reveals and content from DC Comics and the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
One of the films that will be showcased alongside the likes of The Batman and the ‘Snyder Cut’ of Justice League is Wonder Woman 1984. Yesterday (August 18th), director Patty Jenkins answered some fan questions for FanDome early, giving us another sneak-peak at what we can expect from Wonder Woman’s – aka Diana Prince’s (Gal Gadot) – second solo outing, as well as the movie’s appearance at FanDome.
Jenkins discussed the look of Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah, teasing ‘the most incredible design’ with ‘a mix of practical and visual effects’. She also described Cheetah as ‘[not] just a villain. She is an amazing character in her own right, who evolves in such a great way’, and praised Wiig’s performance.
As for the difference in time period for the sequel, Jenkins commented the shift ‘allowed us to see different sides of [Wonder Woman], and also experience a different kind of villain very true to those times. It also influenced look and tone, so it was great to tackle a completely different one’. She went on to say the sequel sees Wonder Woman ‘at the top of her game’ and the movie will explore ‘what it takes to be a true hero’.
In terms of the movie’s plot, Jenkins said the story came to her ‘very easily’, and the movie is ‘an amazingly good time’ – with special care paid to make ‘something impactful and significant to our times’.
She also teased that we can expect to see an impressive movie, with ‘stunning’ visuals – the majority of which will be practical effects.
But Jenkins was tight lipped on whether we’ll get another trailer ahead of the October 2nd release date, instead saying ‘you can meet me in #DCFanDome’s Hall of Heroes this Saturday, 8/22 to find out!’
For now, you can stream the first Wonder Woman movie, and much of the DCEU, via a 7 day free trial for a Hulu plan that includes HBO Max. Hulu also has a massive entertainment library packed with hit films and TV shows, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the streamer.
