Oxygen is a TV channel growing in popularity in recent years. It is focused primarily on true crime and dramas, with women as the main demographic. Women are the main demographic. The network is owned by NBCUniversal, and it has been under this ownership since 2007. To begin with, the channel aired reality shows, and after success in this genre the company relaunched in 2017 with a focus on true crime programs.

The company was founded in 1998 by a former Nickelodeon executive, Oprah Winfrey, a media executive and a number of producers. It was initially most well known for shows including Girls Behaving Badly, Talk Sex with Sue Johanson, Oprah After the Show, Campus Ladies and Bliss.
