The animators behind the cult classic Toy Story movies have been awarded what is being dubbed the ‘Nobel Prize’ for computing.
Ed Catmull and Pat Hanrahan have received the Turing Award, which recognises ‘lasting and major’ contributions in the field.
Awarded by the Association for Computing Machinery, the prize is $1 million, which gets split between the winners.
Catmull was one of the Pixar founders, with Pixar being the studio which brought Toy Story to life. Meanwhile, Hanrahan was one of Pixar’s first employees.
To see their work in action, all of the Toy Story movies are currently available to stream on Disney Plus.
