Overview

American Movie Classics is the best destination for those who live and breathe film. This network, which is more commonly known as AMC, first came into existence in 1986. It is an American cable television channel with AMC Networks at the operations helm.

When it comes to the programming you’ll find on AMC – as you may have guessed already, the main order of the day is films. A small portion of the content slate is original programming. While the initial offering on this channel comprised movie classics, 2002 saw the title shift its focus to try new things.

AMC Premiere is the premium version, which users can get instead of the standard AMC channel which tends to come with a basic pay television bundle. Members can enjoy ad-free AMC shows and benefit from either early access or full-season access to a number of hand-picked shows. Additionally, AMC Premiere offers benefits such as extended episodes, bonus scenes, upcoming footage, movies with uncut scenes, and much more.

Channel Guide

Viewers can choose between content which airs on the standard AMC channel, and the offering found on AMC Premiere. That said, the scheduling will largely remain the same apart from additions outlined above with various perks.

In recent years, many viewers have praised AMC’s original series. The first of these is titled The Movie Masters and it aired back in 1989-1990. The series was of particular importance to movie buffs because it was the last role for actor Gene Rayburn.

While there were a few original series, a general pattern is that most of AMC’s original programming has consisted of historical documentaries and review shows since 2007. However, this changed with the premiere of Mad Men in this year, followed by the globally popular Breaking Bad just twelve months later. This is what put AMC on the map, with fans considering it on par with other premium cable networks like Showtime and HBO.
