Review
Overview
FOX Sports 2 is a sports channel that is part of the Fox Broadcasting Company. It went live on July 1, 2003 as Fuel TV, a channel that provided extensive coverage of extreme sports. By 2004, they had started broadcasting exclusives such as original series and events. While the majority of the content was focused around extreme sports, they also showed programming related to other sports, as well as music, reality shows, and comedy.
In January 2013, the channel was renamed to FOX Sports 2, and with that came a change in programming and content. As a result, FOX Sports 2 replays most of the content on FOX Sports 1 with professional analyses and editorial commentaries from sports pundits.
Channel Guide
Ever since its rebranding, FOX Sports 2 has served mostly as an overflow channel for FOX Sports 1. While there isn’t a lot of original content going live on FOX Sports 2, both channels are highly rated and received by more than half of all US households with cable TV.
Currently, FOX Sports 2 covers basketball and sports car racing, but also shows some second-tier sports events live, such as ARCA Menards Series races, Australian Football League soccer matches, and Australian rules football.
The majority of the viewers on the channel are men (71%), and most viewers are 45 or above. However, with the introduction of Australian rules football and shows like Nitro Circus, FOX Sports 2 has experienced a steady increase in the number of younger viewers between the ages of 14 and 34.
