Overview

IFC is a channel which may be better known by some as the Independent Film Channel. This network is owned by AMC, and there are roughly 63% of households in the US who can watch programming on IFN. It has been around since 1994, and has some other ventures under its belt such as the IFC Center in New York – a movie theater dedicated to showcasing indie films. The sister channels for IFC are known to be AMC, BBC America, Sundance TV and WE TV.

Channel Guide

For the most part, IFN airs comedy and horror shows, but there are also original shows produced by the network which include Sherman’s Showcase, Year of the Rabbit and Documentary Now! Originally, IFN came about under the ownership of Rainbow Media, and the parent company acquired Sundance Media. They were able to begin producing independent films, but they expanded into original TV series and purchased cult series to complement their own titles.
