Overview

FXNow is an app which people can use to watch FX programs. It is available for desktop and mobile devices and can also be accessed via several streaming services.

FX’s channels are owned by Walt Disney and the company’s headquarters are based in Century City, California. The FX channel launched in June 1994 and was seen as a competitor for networks such as HBO and Showtime. Disney later expanded the FX brand to include both the FXX and FXM channels.

In 2018, 89.2 million households in the US had access to FX, which accounts for more than 96% of the total TV-viewing audience in America.

FXNow was launched in January 2014 and is focused on quality entertainment, including drama and comedy. The channel is compatible with most Android, iOS, and Windows devices, as well as Xbox One, Xbox 360, Roku and more.

Channel Guide

FXNow gives users access to programs from the FX, FXX and FXM channels. All content from these three channels is generally available on FXNow within 24 hours. The service is on-demand, meaning that its programs can be viewed at any time, rather than having a set time and day on which it must be watched. This eliminates the need to record any programs. In some cases, there is also the option to stream live TV using the app.

Some of the material on FXNow is original FX shows, such as Dave – which is the channel’s biggest hit to date. During the first season, the show averaged more than 5.3 million viewers per episode – and in May 2020 it was announced that it had been renewed for a second season.

Other top series on FX include Mayans MC, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fargo and American Horror Story. In addition to original content, FXNow also has programs which it has bought. The largest of these is The Simpsons, and the first 25 seasons are available on the platform – a total of 552 episodes. One drawback of FXNow is that it includes adverts that cannot be circumvented in any way.

FXNow is targeted towards millennials in the 18 to 39 age range, but the service attracts viewers of all ages due to its varied library.
