Overview
MSNBC is a well-known news cable channel which is owned by NBCUniversal, namely its Worldwide News Group division. Beyond the news coverage from NBC News, this channel also makes use of its own programming, plus political commentary for various current events.
The naming for this channel came about as it was founded in 1996 by Microsoft and the NBC unit of General Electric. The sister channels for MSNBC include CNBC, E!, Golf Channel, USA Network, SyFy and Bravo. Compared to other basic cable networks, MSNBC ranks second behind its main competitor of Fox News.
