Overview

The NHL Network is an American satellite and cable television network owned by NHL and NBCUniversal. It is a sports-oriented channel which is dedicated to ice hockey. It features live broadcasts of NHL matches and other hockey leagues (professional or collegiate), analysis of NHL matches, documentaries and exclusive content.

The NHL Network was launched on October 1, 2007, and was developed in partnership with the NHL and Comcast. NHL Networks and its studios are located in New Jersey, operating alongside MLB Network.

Channel Guide

NHL matches are broadcast throughout the regular season, taking up 6 days a week on the programming schedule. The NHL Network reserves the right to broadcast live NCAA college hockey games, and regular-season matches are broadcast on Friday nights. Furthermore, the World Junior Championship can be watched live on the NHL Network. The annual tournament features the top 10 national teams in the world competing against each other for the top prize.

Furthermore, the NHL Network has the right to broadcast live and tape-delayed matches in Minor League Hockey, including AHL or ECHL games. The Memorial Cup is also a competition that can be seen on the NHL Network. This is a competition between the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions. The winner receives the Memorial Cup trophy.

NHL Tonight is the official NHL show, which features news, match and season analysis, highlights and interviews. It is broadcast daily from 06:00 PM (ET). NHL on the Fly is a similar series of shows which began airing in 2011. Content includes the latest NHL news, interviews, analysis and highlights. It is broadcast daily from 10:00 PM (ET).

NHL Now is a weekday show which features 2 hours of interviews with NHL players or updates about those involved in the league. The program also offers conversation with viewers who express their opinions on social media to be discussed. The show is broadcast live from Studio K, which is part of MLB Network Studios, between 4 PM and 6 PM (ET) Monday through Friday.

Sportsnet Hockey Central at Noon is another talk show airing on the channel. This title features analysis of games with Doug MacLean, Nick Kypreos and Daren Millard.

Elsewhere, Top 10 is a program that runs in a countdown format. It is based on topical content within the world of hockey, such as the most memorable moments. Similarly, Frozen in Time features retrospective moments from NHL players’ careers, the history of great NHL teams or special hockey events.

Pioneers is the place where NHL legends discuss the evolution of their careers, while NHL Movie Night/NHL Flicks is the destination for feature films related to hockey. Finally, the NHL Network also airs numerous Stanley Cup movies.
