Those who have been loving the series Vikings are in for a treat, as a sequel has been given the green light for Netflix.

The new series is reportedly set to be called Vikings: Valhalla, and will be set a century after the original show.

It’s also said that the series will chronicle the lives of some of the most famous Viking figures, such as Freydis, Harald Harada, Leif Erikson and William the Conqueror.

Many of the original producers and crew will make the jump to Valhalla, and it will also be filmed in Ireland like its predecessor.

In a statement, Netflix said: ‘Vikings: Valhalla promises to be everything that fans love about the franchise: heart-pounding, unstoppable action rooted in rich characters and dramatic storytelling that shines the light on family, loyalty and power. We are thrilled to bring the next iteration of the Vikings saga to life.’

The original series made its debut on the History channel in 2013, and told the story of Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok. The sixth and final season premieres on December 4.
