Following the huge success of Get Out and Us, Jordan Peele returns with a new movie co-produced with Issa Rae for Universal.
The film, Sinkhole, is based on a short story by Leyna Krow. The plot will revolve around a family who move into an apparently perfect house – besides the sinkhole in the backyard. The sinkhole has a peculiar power, however: it can fix anything that’s broken. The official announcement states the film is a ‘genre piece that engages on the question of female perfection and identity’.
Peele is also producing Nia DaCosta’s Candyman, which he co-wrote with DaCosta and Win Rosenfeld. It’s set for release October 16th 2020, assuming no pandemic-induced delays.
Rae was recently nominated for an Emmy in the Best Actress in a Comedy Series category for HBO’s Insecure, which scooped a huge eight nominations in total. No casting details for Sinkhole are known yet, though the film is reportedly a possible starring vehicle for Rae.
