Fans of Toy Story – and Disney in general – will be delighted to hear that a Buzz Lightyear origin movie, simply called Lightyear, will be coming out in theaters in a few years.

When will Lightyear come out on Disney Plus?
We have received a release date for the Lightyear – June 17, 2022. This is when the film will be in cinemas, so mark your calendars!
As for a Disney Plus release, it’s looking like the film will either be out on the streaming platform in late 2022 or early 2023.
Will there be another Lightyear movie?
There may well be another Lightyear movie if the first one is successful, but fans will most likely be waiting until around 2024 before Lightyear 2 comes out in cinemas.

What we know so far is that the story follows how a young test pilot becomes a space hero, leading to the Buzz Lightyear action figure which we see in the Toy Story movies.
Disney said on Twitter, along with a snapshot of what fans can expect to see: ‘Here’s a first look of the young test pilot that became the Space Ranger we all know him to be today. Lightyear launches into theaters June 17, 2022.’
Meanwhile, Pixar described the movie Lightyear as ‘the definitive story of the original Buzz Lightyear. Voiced by Chris Evans, get ready to go to infinity and beyond with Lightyear.’

Is there a trailer for Lightyear?
There is not an official trailer just yet, but Pixar released a 30 second clip on Twitter which showed the logo art for the movie. It’s likely that the trailer will come out once the movie is ready to go in cinemas.
