As the wildly popular third season of Yellowstone approaches its finale on Paramount Network, fans are wondering where the episodes were filmed.

The fictional Dutton Ranch is said to be located in Montana, on the border of Yellowstone National Park. The scenes were in fact filmed on a ranch in Montana.

To be precise, the location used is Chief Joseph Ranch in Darby, Montana. Furthermore, the log cabin home of the Duttons is a mansion on this land.

The history behind the mansion is that it was built in 1917 for William Ford and his family. Ford was a tycoon in the glass industry, so the property spans 5000 square feet.

The season finale of Yellowstone airs at 9pm ET on Sunday, August 23 on the Paramount Network. To check out the full season, Amazon Prime Video offers a TV season pass.
