New mobile streaming app Quibi has had a huge launch day, with the app downloaded over 300,000 times.
The platform raised $1.75 billion before its launch and made its debut to the world during the coronavirus pandemic, but managed to get hundreds of thousands of downloads in its first 24 hours.
The numbers compared with competitors in the streaming space mean that it had six times more downloads than HBO Now got in its launch, but much less than Disney Plus.
In fact, with 4 million downloads for Disney Plus, Quibi only got 7.5 percent of this amount – but the engagement it has had is impressive regardless.
Quibi is currently offering its users a 90 day free trial of its service, with shows featuring top celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon and Steven Spielberg.
