Those who enjoy the content slate of Roku Originals should mark their diaries on August 13, which is when a massive 23 new titles are making their way to the platform. This will pad out the existing portfolio of 30 Originals which have been available since May.
The shows come from the Quibi shows which were acquired by Roku earlier in the year, and it is becoming clear that Roku is a key figure in the streaming wars, having been nominated for eight Emmy Awards already.
What will get fans most excited is the fact that four brand new shows will be making their debut on the platform in the UK, Canada and the US. These shows are as follows:
- A series called Eye Candy with Josh Groban as the host
- A clearing competition called Squeaky Clean hosted by Leslie Jordan
- Season 2 of Thanks A Million featuring Chris Rock, Vanessa Hudgens and more
- What Happens in Hollywood, a title directed by Marina Zenovich
Colin Davis, Roku’s Head of Scripted Programming, said: ‘Viewers will be on the edge of their seats with thrillers like ‘The Stranger’, ‘Survive’ and ‘Wireless,’ and then can laugh themselves silly with ‘Mapleworth Murders.’ These August additions continue to prove that we can offer something for everyone, and we could not be prouder for them to be devoured by the massive Roku audience.’
