Insights into what consumers want from the world of streaming have been revealed by a new report from Amdocs. The results have been published in the New Streamer 2021 report.

The report indicates that the main motivator for people signing up for a streaming service is content as opposed to price. 1000 consumers were surveyed, and just under half indicated content was king for them.

To break the results down, 49% said the amount of content was their motivation. 45% selected quality of content, and 38% opted for price. Furthermore, they would be happy to create their own content ‘bundle’.

This would be done by signing up for multiple streaming services, giving them their own selection of options for watching specific shows. Viewers are also generally not cutting the cord as they sign up for streaming services while keeping channels.

The report reads: ‘With only 8% of U.S. consumers cancelling a satellite/cable subscription and 34% of U.S. consumers adding video streaming services, cord-cutting options are more of an addition to consumers’ personal content bundles, rather than a replacement.’
