There has been excitement on the internet lately after emails began circulating which advertised a free year of Netflix.

However, as most things in life do not come free, we don’t recommend clicking on the links which come with such an email – as this is yet another phishing scam.

In fact, Netflix is not even offering a 30 day free trial for new customers in the US anymore, although a spokesperson has said they will be planning ‘different marketing promotions in the US to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience.’

It’s understandable that some people may think a free year offer is an example of a ‘different marketing promotion’, but sadly this is not the case.

Indeed, the promotion is very convincing, inviting them to claim the offer as they have been selected from thousands and they should enter their details right away.

There is a slightly different scam going on which invites people to take a survey in order to receive the same ‘free year-long trial’, but unfortunately this is also a ploy to steal your personal details and credit card information.

While you will not be getting Netflix free any time soon, Amazon Prime Video offers a free 30 day trial with access to as much as 3x the content available on Netflix!
