Peacock is the newest streaming service to hit the market, but it’s already making an impact.
Unfortunately its rollout was marred by issues of compatibility – at launch, Peacock couldn’t be streamed on Samsung Smart TV, Roku or Amazon Fire TV Stick.
Now, Roku is compatible with Peacock, but Fire Stick and Samsung Smart TV still aren’t – but there is still a way to stream Peacock on Samsung Smart TV, as we explain here.
These issues are a frustrating bump in the road for cord-cutters, and one likely to make Peacock less desirable than other streaming sites with a wider range of compatibility.
However, luckily Peacock is fully compatible with iOS, iPhone and iPad – and we’re here to explain how you can get streaming today.
What is Peacock?
Peacock is a new streamer from NBCUniversal.
It’s managed to cultivate a library that includes both original releases like Brave New World, as well as iconic content like Harry Potter, SNL and more. The Office is also headed to Peacock soon.
Top shows on Peacock so far are:
- Brave New World
- Departure
- The Capture
- Will and Grace
- 30 Rock
- Frasier
- Everybody Loves Raymond
- Cheers
- Bates Motel
- Battlestar Galactica
Signing up for Peacock couldn’t be easier.
Just navigate to the Peacock homepage on your web browser, select ‘join now’ and input your email and password.
If you’d like to access the paying tiers, which include more content (and Premium Plus is ad-free), just go to your account page and choose the option to upgrade your plan. If you’re not sure yet, you can try both tiers with a 7 day free trial.
You can download the Peacock app to a wide range of devices (see the full list at our review here), and it’s possible to sign up for a Peacock account and make changes to your account from the app.
What is iOS?
iOS is the name of the operating system used on many Apple devices. It’s used on the iPhone, but on the iPad a slightly different operating system is used called iPadOS.
How to use an iPhone or iPad
Apple devices are pleasantly easy to use, with a centralized App Store, and a music library which holds your purchases through iTunes or your streaming library with Apple Music.
The App Store
This is where you can download a massive range of apps to your device. This includes streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and more – which offer their own apps for ease of use, so you don’t have to use your device’s web browser.
As well as streamers, the App Store also has a variety of games, social media apps and more to download. In fact, there’s an app for pretty much anything you can think of – within reason.
How to download apps
To download an app, you just need an Apple account. Chances are if you have an Apple device you already have one.
You usually set up an Apple ID when you buy a new Apple device and go through the set up process. It’s very easy to do and onscreen prompts will guide you.
You just have to:
- Enter your name and birthday
- Input your email address
- Create a password
- Set your location
- Input your billing information
- Confirm your phone number
- Verify your account from your email
You can also associate fingerprints with an Apple ID or choose a passcode.
Once you have an ID, you’re ready to go. Just open The App Store on your device, search for the app you want, then select to install. You have to purchase some apps, but many are available for free.
You might be prompted to use your fingerprint or enter your Apple ID password. Once you’ve done this, the app will start to download – and you’ll be able to find it on your device straightaway.
How to stream Peacock on iOS, iPhone and iPad
The way to download Peacock is the same for iPhones and iPads.
It’s fortunately very easy:
- Search for the Peacock app in the App Store.
- Locate the correct app, then select to install.
- Open up the Peacock app once it’s downloaded.
- If you’ve already set up an account on your web browser, just login and you’re ready to stream.
- If you don’t have an account, select the option to sign up, enter your email address and create a password.
You can also upgrade your account to either of the paying tiers from within the app via an in-app purchase.
That’s it – you’re now ready to start streaming hours of hit content on your iPhone or iPad.
