When is Black Friday 2020?
After a turbulent and uncertain year, many of us are looking forward to the autumn and winter periods – especially the looming Christmas season. With that in mind, it’s going to be a relief that Black Friday falls on November 27, 2020. Not only can people land a bargain for themselves, they can think about grabbing some discounted gifts for friends and family.
For those not in the know, Black Friday started out as a shopping period in the US. Immediately after Thanksgiving, retailers would commence the holiday season for shoppers, which meant that people would be keen to get saving immediately after enjoying their turkey.
Ever seen those crazy videos where people are practically breaking down the doors of their favorite stores in order to get inside and grab a deal? These are referred to as ‘doorbusters’ – as there are deals which are so jaw dropping that customers will do anything to get through the door before the store even opens!
The Black Friday craze has now spread across the world, and online industries such as the streaming services market have made their mark by offering impressive bargains – whether they are discounted subscriptions, new releases or deal bundles combining products and streaming platforms.

Netflix Black Friday Deals 2020
Most people will think of Netflix when the world of streaming comes to mind. That makes sense, as the platform first came out back in 2007 by offering films for customers to rent. Now the online platform is booming, with millions of subscribers across the globe. The service has released a huge number of original series, from Stranger Things to The Ranch.
There is no shortage of content available for subscribers to choose from, especially as the platform offers a rotating library of titles. If it’s gritty drama you’re after, check out series such as Ozark or Mindhunter. For a touch of the supernatural, Netflix offers Lucifer and The Walking Dead. Want some historical drama? Reign and The Crown are the shows for you. In recent times, top shows such as You and Tiger King have also made headlines.
Usually Netflix specifically will not provide a Black Friday streaming deal, but that doesn’t mean you can’t grab some bargains to level up your experience. For example, services such as Amazon will usually be providing discounts on products such as the Roku Streaming Stick, Amazon Fire TV and Google Cast. What’s more, any series you want to grab on a box set will usually be available at a discounted price.
Hulu Black Friday Deals 2020
Hulu is a streaming staple for many Americans across the United States, and for good reason, too. Whether it’s The Handmaid’s Tale or Little Fires Everywhere, the original titles on this platform are well worth a watch. Plus, the bundle deal which combines Hulu with Disney+ and ESPN+ is a bargain for any streaming fan out there.
With Hulu, subscribers can enjoy add-ons to premium services such as HBO, Cinemax, Showtime or Starz – or they can stick with the basic on-demand package for shows such as The Good Doctor, The Exorcist, Nathan For You and Normal People. From historical drama to reality TV, there is an unlimited amount of choice – plus, Hulu offers a live TV platform with access to channels such as ABC, Cartoon Network, The CW and TBS.
Fans of Hulu are most likely in for a treat with Black Friday 2020, as its history of streaming deals for this period has been both exciting and generous. For example, 2019 saw the platform offer 66% off the first year of membership for new subscribers. A year-long sign-up was just $1.99 a month instead of the usual $5.99, which makes it a bargain for any streaming lover.
Disney Plus Black Friday Deals 2020
Although it’s fairly new to the market, having only launched in November 2019, Disney Plus has experienced exponential growth and huge surges in popularity as its platform has rolled out across the globe. Netflix fans were met with a big competitor as Disney launched a platform which offered Marvel movies, National Geographic titles, the Star Wars saga and 20th Century Fox classics such as The Simpsons.
Most notably, Disney Plus is the home of The Mandalorian, which released its first season last year to rave reviews. With season two out at the end of October, many speculate it makes perfect sense for the platform to entice new subscribers at this time with a discounted membership. Indeed, in 2019 US fans enjoyed a Cyber Monday deduction on the annual subscription, which took $10 off. Furthermore, O2 offered a deal which let customers on new plans enjoy 12 months of Disney Plus for free.
But why is Disney Plus worth checking out this Black Friday? Well, some argue there are many perks – not only is the subscription price competitive, at just $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year, there is also an impressive content slate which rivals other streaming giants despite its young age. For example, Marvel shows such as Agents of SHIELD and Hero Project are on offer, as well as classics from the Disney Vault such as Lizzie McGuire. Plus, new titles like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki are a source of excitement and anticipation for many.
Amazon Prime Video Black Friday Deals 2020
Amazon Prime Video is part of an overall service which has a unique position in the industry. This is because subscribers to the Prime service can enjoy perks which go beyond streaming. To be precise, a Prime subscription includes expedited and discounted shipping, access to discounted Kindle books, a music library, photo storage – and the Prime Video service, which comes with a 30 day free trial.
What’s more, Amazon has carved out a name for itself as a top provider of original streaming series. Notable examples include Fleabag, Hannibal and Goliath, while older titles still enjoyed on the platform include Justified, Utopia and Bosch. Plus, there’s a rotating library of content and access to sports streaming – as well as the option to integrate premium channels for even more choice.
But what does Amazon Prime Video offer when it comes to Black Friday deals? Ahead of the big day, there’s Prime Day 2020 on October 13 and 14, where Prime subscribers can enjoy huge savings on premium channel membership. In the hardware department, Amazon has been known to release new deals every hour over the course of Black Friday week – so whether you’re in the market for a Roku Express, Xbox One S or Nvidia Shield, there’s bound to be a deal for you.
Apple TV+ Black Friday Deals 2020
Not long before Disney Plus launched, Apple made its mark on the streaming industry by releasing its Apple TV+ platform. While the initial content library was fairly small, it has developed new titles with big names such as Jennifer Aniston and Oprah. With a low price point at just $4.99 a month and discounts for groups such as students, many have enjoyed the benefits of this young platform.
What’s more, the titles on offer with Apple TV Plus have received rave reviews. The most heavily marketed show ahead of the platform’s launch was The Morning Show, while science fiction drama For All Mankind also received positive feedback. History fans got stuck into Dickinson, while Jason Momoa stars in See. Child-friendly shows include Helpsters and Ghostwriter, which are sure to provide hours of family entertainment.
While we’re currently unsure whether the streaming platform itself will be offering any discounts, there are plenty of places where it’s safe to say hardware discounts will probably be available – from iPhones and iPads to the Apple TV. For example, Amazon is a top destination and other online stores such as Walmart are sure to offer Black Friday deals across a range of products.
HBO Max Black Friday Deals 2020
HBO Max is a streaming platform which launched in 2020 after months of building up anticipation and hype. US streaming fans have signed up to access top shows such as Friends, Game of Thrones, Fresh Prince and Adventure Time. Studio Ghibli movies are also available, as are seasons of The Big Bang Theory.
There are also originals in the works, such as The Flight Attendant – starring Kaley Cuoco – and a reboot of Gossip Girl. Other reboots include Grease: Rydell High and an animated series of Gremlins. Plus, new shows starring YouTubers include Craftopedia, and there are also classics such as Looney Tunes and Sesame Street on the platform.
The streaming platform hasn’t offered Black Friday deals before, so fans will be on the lookout for what deals may be on the horizon. Plus, within the wider sphere of HBO as a channel and platform, it’s possible there could be deals such as TV channel offers, bundle deals and discounts which include HBO.
Peacock Black Friday Deals 2020
Peacock was the last new streaming service to enter the industry after Disney Plus, Apple TV+ and HBO Max, but that doesn’t mean people haven’t paid attention to it. Its main perks are sought-after shows such as Chicago Fire, Parks and Recreation and The Office. Plus there are reboots of titles like Saved By The Bell and Battlestar Galactica in the works.
Notably, Peacock offers a free subscription plan which is supported by commercials. This makes it an ideal option for those on a budget. What’s more, there are over 15,000 hours of content to get stuck into, and linear channels are available – making the platform similar to services such as Pluto TV.
We haven’t heard any details just yet about whether Peacock will be offering discounts for new subscribers or savings for existing members, but we have our fingers crossed for deals.
